Tony was born in London in 1946 and there he developed his interest in painting. The quality of his landscapes and figurative work has always shown incredible attention to detail, and the subject is inevitably appealing and depicts tranquil rustic scenes. Many of his scenes are related to Herefordshire and Gloucestershire with one of his favourite rivers, the Wye being the basis for many canvases. A main characteristic of his river scenes are the depiction of tranquil, crystal clear water, the clarity of the river bed clearly viewable, with horses and figures often as focal points. During the 1970's and 80's he was the resident artist for Frost & Reed, a leading Bond Street Gallery, where he had considerable success. In addition he was contracted to an important publishing firm who has produced his paintings as limited edition prints, and there are several other publishers such as Parnassus and Paper House who have also reproduced his work as greeting cards, helping to further his very successful career. |
